Brief description

Mehrtägige Radtour entlang der Mostviertler Flüsse

Description

Discover the scenic diversity of the Mostviertel region with all its facets. Get to know the land and people of Lower Austria's most beautiful district on six varied daily stages.

Day 1:
Starting from St. Pölten , the first day is a flat and leisurely ride along the Roman Cycle Route towards the Melk Alpine foothills and on to Petzenkirchen, where you check into the excellent Landgasthof Bärenwirt after around 50 km.

Day 2:
Freshly refreshed, you cycle leisurely along the Erlauftal cycle path to Pöchlarn and then along the Danube cycle path to Ardagger, before continuing along the Cider cycle route and then the Mostbaron cycle route to the end point at the Schiffsmeisterhaus in Ardagger after around 50 km.

Day 3:
After a restful night at the Schiffsmeisterhaus, you follow the Mostbaron cycle route to Ulmerfeld on the next stage (around 40 km), from where you continue along the Ybbstal cycle path to Waidhofen a/d Ybbs. The afternoon is free for a stroll through the charming old town. You will spend the night in Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
Tip: For those who still haven't had enough after 40 kilometers of cycling, a detour to the Ybbsitz blacksmith center 11 km away is worthwhile.

Day 4:
A real highlight awaits you on the fourth day: the 55 km long heart of the Ybbs Valley Cycle Path to Lunz am See is built close to the water and impresses with its wonderful natural scenery - perfect for pleasure cyclists and those who want to become one.

Day 5:
"Accept challenges" is the motto on day five. Because on the 35 km long stage from Lunz to Mariazell there are a few meters of altitude to conquer (briefly on a beautiful trekking route, then on the Zellerrain road). After a downhill stage, the ride along the idyllic River Erlauf rewards you for the climbs you have previously mastered and shortly afterwards you reach the day's final destination of Mariazell.
Tip: This stage leads along a country road over the Zellerrain pass. Alternatively, there is a (rather challenging) mountain bike route(nature park route in combination with the Mariazell railway line) or, for the more leisurely, the bike cab .

Day 6:
The final stage takes you from Mariazell over 80 km back to St. Pölten. The Traisental cycle route initially climbs a little to the Gscheid near Kernhof, before rolling pleasantly along the Traisen.

Author's tip
