Paragliding at the Ötscher

Paragliders overlook the entire Mostviertel region: From the Hüttenkogel or the Ötscher's summit, marvellous panoramas open up.

The Ötscher is not only famous for its skiing and hiking opportunities, but also very popular among paragliders. The aviation school Kilb Freewind offers tandem flights.

Thanks to its easy accessibility – it only takes a chairlift ride to the mountain hut followed by a short ascend – the Hüttenkogel probably is the most popular take-off site for paragliders. Starting direction is northwest, a wind indicator is available. If you want to take off from the Ötscher's summit, there are several ascent options. The standard route leads from the mountain hut to the summit (the walk takes approx. 1 hour), the more alpine route goes via the Rauer Kamm (a 3-4-hour walk). Once you carried the parachute to 1,893 m, your well-deserved jump right from the summit cross will be unforgettable. There is a large landing site on the Ötscherwiese. The ticket price for lift ride includes starting and landing fees.

This mountain is only suitable for flying when the wind comes from northwest! Caution is required with strongly increasing high-altitude wind from northwest! During the main thermal lift time, the landing site shows strong flow separation!
