Fliegenfischen in der Kleinen Ybbs
Fishing
Description
Trout, grayling and bullhead feel very much at home in the crystal-clear water, meaning that large fish are occasionally landed.
As the area is open to the public for the first time in 20 years in 2023, there is a really good stock of fish.
The fishing area is officially called BI / 13 Ybbsitzbach (small Ybbs) and is approx. 11 km long. It runs from the mouth of the Ybbs upstream to the "Hängender Stein" (boundary sign available). It is a salmonid area with beautiful risel stretches but also some short reservoirs and pools. The Kleine Ybbs flows through the market town of Ybbsitz, which roughly marks the middle of the district. The Kleine Ybbs has the character of a small pre-alpine river, but above Ybbsitz it has more of a "brook" character.
Day tickets can be purchased at the Lietz store, Alte Poststr. 23, 3341 Ybbsitz. (max. 4 licenses per day)
