Königsberg in den Ybbstaler Alpen

Mountain summit, Scenic lookout

Description

Hiking paradise and a great tip for cyclists: the long, wooded ridge of the Königsberg stretches for around 15 km through the Göstling Alps. Situated between Hollenstein an der Ybbs and Göstling, the mountain region offers particularly beautiful views.

With its rocky ridge stretching from west to east and several hiking trails, the Königsberg attracts hikers of all levels and ages. Dense forests and lush alpine pastures characterize the landscape. Comfortable mountain huts - Siebenhüttenalm and Kitzhütte - and great excursion highlights quickly make hiking appealing even to little fresh-air grouches.

Location
Mostviertel/NÖ-Mitte, near Hollenstein (located in the border triangle of Lower Austria, Upper Austria, STMK)

Accessibility for hikers & duration
Most of the ascents to Königsberg start from Göstling im Ybbstal. A variant for pleasure hikers and especially families with children is the Königsberg huts hike: first take the car up the mountain road to the Kurzeck organic farm - and then continue on foot to the Kitzhut.

Excursion destinations in the Ybbstal Alps
From the Ybbstal saltwater pool to the Mendlingtal experience, from Lake Lunz to the Hochkar Cave: the region around the Königsberg has numerous other wild wonders in store for the whole family.

Extra tip: The Königsberg is an absolute tip for cyclists - with a bike park, MTB trails, guided e-bike tours and much more.
