Paragleiten auf Ötscher und Hochkar

The Ötscher is not only a skiing and hiking arena, but also very popular with paragliders. The Kilb Freewind flying school offers tandem flights.

The Hüttenkogel is probably the most popular launch site due to its easy accessibility - a ride on the chair lift to the Schutzhaus and a short ascent. Take-off is in a NW direction, a wind indicator is available. If you want to ascend directly from the Ötscher summit, there are several ascent options. The standard route leads from the Schutzhaus to the summit (approx. 1 hour walk), the more alpine route via the Rauhen Kamm (3-4 hours walk). Once the umbrella has been carried up to 1,893 m, a start right in front of the summit cross is well-deserved and simply unforgettable. There is a large landing area on the Ötscherwiese. The ticket price for the lift ride includes take-off and landing fees.

The mountain is only suitable for flying in winds from the NW! Be careful when the wind is blowing strongly from the NW! The landing site has strong winds during the main thermal season!
