Glasklares Wasser & tiefe Schluchten – Raftingtouren auf der Salza
Water sports
Description
Rafting Camp Palfau has been offering rafting tours in the Gesäuse for 40 years. The Salza - also affectionately known as the Styrian "Grand Canyon" - is the ideal river to get to know the rafting adventure together in a group. It is one of the most beautiful mountain rivers in the Alps and its water is usually crystal clear. This multi-faceted stretch of white water alternates between calm passages and rapids.
When the water level allows, the former waterhole footbridge tempts the brave to take a five-meter leap into the cool water, while at a calmer point you can let yourself be carried along by the current while white water swimming.
The heart of the route is the Palfau Gorge. Cut deep into the landscape, the Salza meanders through the Eisenwurzen Nature Park.
Our rafting tours are suitable for everyone, provided they can swim and are in average physical condition (no alcohol before the tour, please!). Children aged six and over may take part if accompanied by an adult. All you need to bring is swimwear (swimming trunks, bikini, etc.), a towel and shower utensils.
There is no such thing as bad weather - rafting is great fun even in the rain. All equipment is provided by us. Each participant receives high-quality equipment - wetsuit, neoprene jacket, neoprene shoes, life jacket and helmet - boat, paddle and raft guide (1 guide per boat) are included. We generally use boats for 6 - 10 people, the number of boats varies depending on the size of the group.
We have sufficient parking facilities for coaches at our camp. So that no wet people have to be transported in the bus, the transfer after the tour is carried out by us.
The half-day rafting tour on the Salza takes approx. 3.5 - 4 hours in total (incl. changing rooms, transfers and showers), the travel time on the river approx. 2 hours. The rafting tour can also be combined very well with other program points, e.g. hike through the Wasserlochklamm gorge, barbecue evening, baked potato meal in the Wasserlochschenke, etc.
The 500-year-old, fully restored Moarhof farm is home to Rafting Camp Palfau. The farm is located on the "Sunnseitn" side of the Palfau district in the border triangle of Styria / Lower Austria / Upper Austria on the south side of the Hochkar. The wonderful location in the countryside, the dignified buildings and the numerous beautiful places immediately create a vacation atmosphere.
Large green areas are available to our guests. Here they can play volleyball, slackline, play table tennis or simply relax in hammocks.
The accommodation options for our guests are varied. We offer rooms, vacation apartments, dormitories and a campsite. The accommodation is mainly used in the form of our packages with barbecue evenings in the old smithy and outdoor sports activities. In addition to the rafting tours, the camp is also the starting point for all other outdoor sports such as canyoning, kayaking, Flyingfox via ferrata, paragliding, etc.
Thanks to the ideal location, the journeys to the tours are short. There are also a large number of high-quality Excursion destinations in the surrounding area. The rafting camp offers not only day programs but also multi-day packages. Larger groups can also be accommodated with the accommodation partners in the region.
