Schauwiese Ablass

Outdoor adventure

Description

The meadows near the Ablass farmhouse are a mosaic of different types of meadow. The spectrum ranges from mountain mowing meadows to wet meadows and stands of moor grass. The vegetation, which is very species-rich with almost 80 plant species, is dominated by moor grass, wood sedge and red fescue. The abundance of flowers is particularly striking when the broad-leaved orchid is in bloom at the end of May.
Such areas have become very rare and are of the highest conservation value.

Here you will find the following special plant species:

  • Broad-leaved orchid
    (Dactylorhiza majalis)
    Orchid plant
    Mid/end of May to mid-June
  • Star narcissus
    (Narcissus radiiflorus)
    Daffodil plant
    Mid/end of May to mid-June

The Ybbstal valley is a treasure trove of rare flowers and plants. Would you like to find out more about daffodils, orchids and the like? You can find more show meadows and an informative folder at www.narzissenbluete.at!
