Details for: Lackenhof - Durchlass - Lake Lunz
Brief description
Easy hike from Lackenhof to Lunz am See, where you walk along the Ois river on a disused railroad track.
Description
From Lackenhof after 4km to Langau and there, immediately after the Oisbrücke bridge, is the site of the former forest railway station. The Waldbahn once transported timber from Langau to Lunz am See, where the connecting station was located. It was used until 1974. At the beginning of the 1980s, the tracks in Langau were almost completely removed and parts of them were reused for museum purposes in Freiland near Türnitz. At the culvert, you pass the Neuhauser family farm. On the Lunz side at the bottom of the valley, the path to the lake leads past the biological research station of the Academy of Sciences. From there you can reach the southern shore of the lake and see parts of the biological station.
