Schwarzalm

Lodge / hut

Your stay

At 1,536 meters above sea level, the Schwarzalm is the highest alpine hut in the Iron Road of Lower Austria. The alpine pasture in the Mostviertel Alps can be reached from three sides, from the high moor Leckermoos in Hochreit, from the village Lassing at the farmhouse Sinsamreith or from the Hochkar. The approach can be chosen depending on your stamina, as there are ascent paths of varying difficulty.

Furthermore, smaller as well as larger circular hikes with summit targets (e.g. Ringkogel, Hochwurz) can be undertaken starting from the Schwarzalm. Once a week there is the possibility to drive up to the Schwarzalm by alpine cab. On request, up to 20 people can spend the night in the mattress camp.

Opening hours: Mid-June to mid-September
                                 Wednesday day of rest

Tour tip: Alpine pasture hike from Leckermoos to the Ringkogel and Schwarzalm
