Brief description

GeBIERgsweg Gaming – the beer-filled hiking experience

Description

Along the Gaminger GeBIERgsweg, 18 stations offer interesting facts about this “liquid gold,” which was even recommended by Hildegard von Bingen and Paracelsus for restoring and strengthening health. “Beer is a divine medicine against illness,” as Paracelsus put it. On the “Seidel Loop,” the first seven stations along the trail introduce the ingredients of beer—once you return to the starting point, you’ll have learned a lot and successfully completed the Seidel Loop.

Spiced up with a variety of interactive stations and plenty of tips, the GeBIERgsweg is a welcome change of pace for interested hikers and beer fans.

A giant beer barrel, a hop trellis, a barley field, a viewing platform, and a yeast sculpture make the GeBIERgsweg an eventful and exciting hike. At two beer stations, you can print out a voucher for special offers from Gaminger GeBIERgsdorf partners!

Route description GeBIERgsweg Gaming (Seidel-Runde)

The trail begins at a giant beer barrel in Kartausenpark, which—in keeping with the region’s character—was crafted from iron by Franz “Joe” Wahler, an artistic blacksmith from Ybbsitz.

The trail leads past the outer wall of the Gaming Charterhouse, continuing on to the Kartausenblick viewpoint and Kalvarienberg. The Schlossteich is also a worthwhile stop along the way, before you can refuel at the well-stocked beer fountain by the Weiglteich—naturally with Kartausenbräu and Erzbräu from the two Gaming breweries. Organic juices from the region are healthy thirst-quenchers for the little ones and can also be found in the perfectly chilled fountain. And how about a snapshot? You’ll have the chance to take one at the photo spot by the fountain!

In addition to the extensive “KRÜGERL-RUNDE” described here (6 km, walking time 2 hours), the shorter “SEIDEL-RUNDE” (3 km, walking time 1 hour) is also an option. The starting point is also the giant beer barrel in Kartausenpark. If you want to head a bit “higher,” the Erzbräu on Grubberg is a worthwhile destination, and after 9 km, you’ve truly earned a hearty sip.
