Details for: Kleiner Ötscher Gipfel

Brief description

The little brother of the Vaterberg: no less of an experience and a physical challenge up to 1,552m above sea level.

Description

The ascent to the Kleiner Ötscher follows the ski slope to the Riffelsattel for long stretches. From there you walk in a westerly direction - at first a little flatter, later a little steeper - on a beautiful hiking trail with great views up to the summit. The way back follows the ascent route.

Starting point of the tour

Lackenhof, Weitental

Destination point of the tour

Kleiner Ötscher, Summit

Equipment

Trail running shoes, possibly trail running poles. Trail running backpack with snacks and a first-aid kit, emergency blanket, cell phone, and protection from rain and sun.

Safety information

High-alpine terrain!

1. Please avoid the trails during nighttime and twilight hours (when the animals are foraging).

2. Remain calm and mindful; avoid contact with grazing livestock.

3. Be considerate of the flora and fauna, and treat the people working here, nature, and the animals with respect.

4. Pay attention to general warning signs (e.g., “Restricted Area” signs). Respect fences and close gates behind you.

6. Please take your trash with you when you leave.

Author's tip

For those who prefer mountain running: Head briefly uphill again from the Riffelsattel to the Ötscherschutzhaus, then take the lift down to the valley.
