Description

The Gaming Charterhouse was consecrated in 1342 and secularized in 1782. In its heyday, the largest charterhouse in Central Europe was one of the most richly endowed monasteries in Austria. Today, the Charterhouse is home to a four-star hotel and event center, a restaurant and various university institutes.

The Hotel Kartause Gaming is characterized by the unique flair of the former monastery complex. Embedded in the historical ambience, you will find yourself on the trail of living history and enjoy your time in a comfortable and cozy atmosphere.
There are 26 rooms and three apartments in the **** star range available to our guests all year round. The restaurant serves hearty classics and light seasonal dishes. In the summer months, large groups can also book Haus Elisabeth and Haus Franziskus (simpler rooms). During this time, groups of up to 200 people can enjoy their stay at Gaming Charterhouse.

The most important sights of the Charterhouse are the church, the baroque library and the prelate's hall. In winter, the Flaming Charterhouse Christmas invites visitors to the atmospheric Advent market in the prelate's courtyard. The Gaming Charterhouse is also home to its own brewery, where the "Gaminger Kartausenbräu" is produced. The "Kartausenbräu" is made according to the purity law and contains no chemical additives - a truly natural beer.

In winter, the Lackenhof am Ötscherski area and cross-country skiing center can be reached by car in just 15 minutes.
