Details for: To Saint Sebaldus
Brief description
Almost entirely on cycle paths, this route leads into the neighboring Enns Valley and there along the Heiligenstein with its small pilgrimage church dedicated to Saint Sebaldus.
Description
Comfortably, the route starts on the Ybbstalradweg going upstream to Klein-Hollenstein. Here, turn right and take a very rhythmic (approx. 5%) climb up to the Saurüssel at the Upper Austrian border. The easily rideable descent ends at the beginning of Weyer, where you turn very sharply right after an S-curve (attention!) towards Breitenau. A short spur and the narrow road leads back along the ditch, where it rises again for about 1 km at about 10% until you reach a small plateau. Here there is the possibility to turn left and cycle to the Sebaldus Church on the Heiligenstein (attention: very steep climb, gravel at the end).
Then the route leads down to Gaflenz, through the town and continues on the cycle path to Waidhofen/Ybbs. After passing through the town, you ride along the Ybbstalradweg upstream again as at the beginning back to the starting point in Opponitz.
