Spring in the Ybbstal Alps
Green in the valley, white on the mountain peaks: Spring has arrived in the Ybbstal Alps!
Many of the region's attractions are kicking off their season, and there is an incredible amount to discover outdoors. Nature is showing off its most beautiful sides.
The season begins with the Wasserloch Gorge in Palfau, which is particularly impressive in spring when the snow melts in the mountains. The 3D archery course in Lackenhof at the Ötscher is also starting its season, and the Ybbstalerhütte on the Dürrensteinalm is welcoming its first guests after the winter break. Action and adventure await you at the Königsberg Bike Park in Hollenstein an der Ybbs, which, depending on weather conditions, already opens for the season in March. Plus, the cycling season also kicks off again in April.
Spring tip for flower enthusiasts
A true highlight in spring is the "Ybbstal Daffodil Bloom" from mid-May to early June — with meadows full of flowers across four communities in the region. A short trip during the daffodil bloom is definitely worth it! By mid-April, the region's fruit trees are also in full bloom, making the wide meadows and rolling hills shine with color.
