Summer mountain chairlifts: Hiking experience with lift assistance

For all those who want to spend more time on the mountain or prefer to enjoy leisurely hikes.

Not all nature lovers are professional mountaineers. But that doesn't mean that you have to miss out on the joy of reaching a summit. Two summer mountain chairlifts in the Ybbstal Alps ensure that everyone can easily and comfortably travel to either the "Großer Ötscher" or "Hochkar" mountain station and start their hiking adventure straight from there. This simplifies some hikes and is perfect for families and those who cannot manage such long and demanding tours. For example, it only takes around 2 hours to hike from the "Ötscherschutzhaus" hut at the mountain station to the Ötscher summit.

The starting points are the two huts Ötscherschutzhaus on the Ötscher and "JoSchi Berghaus" (formerly the Geischlägerhaus) on the Hochkar. Both are located directly at the mountain stations of the lifts and are also ideal as a place to stop for a strengthening snack and refreshments.

You can find more information about the Ötscher and Hochkar mountain chairlifts, as well as some tours starting from the mountain stations here!
