Brief description

Hollenstein - Wentsteinhammer - Promau - Kitzhütte - Königsberg - Hollenstein

Description

From the Raika square along the Hammerbach stream past Treffenguthammer, FS Unterleiten, Wentsteinhammer and Jagdhaus Sandgraben to the Promau junction. Here the forest road begins and leads past a wildlife feeding station steeply uphill to the Eisgrabensattel. Across an alpine pasture you reach the Kitzhüttenalm and after about 200 m the highest point of the route (1300 m altitude).

The descent begins on the forest road slightly to the right and leads over Kastnergschlief and Thomasbergerboden to the "Almauftriebsweg" intersection. Now a steep descent leads to the ski lifts at Königsberg. From the Bauernhaus Hochschlag on an asphalt road (approx. 400 m) to the junction above the valley station of Lift 3. Here the path branches off to the right following the signposts towards Bachlerwald, through the Königsberg bike park to the Jagersberger guesthouse. Past the trout pond, after approx. 50 m to the right onto a gravel road past the Bauernhaus Rain and further on an asphalt road back to the starting point.
