Details for: Three-Lakes Hike Lunz

Brief description

This hike is all about the element of water. The Lunzer See is known as the pearl of the Eisenwurzen and is the only natural lake in Lower Austria. At the Mittersee, there is a beautiful waterfall, the Ludwigsfall. The Obersee is small but crystal clear. From the dark green water rises a small island with a group of spruces.

Description

Lunz at the emerald-green lake: In the midst of a wonderful landscape, framed by mountains of the wild Mostviertel, shines the namesake body of water. As the only natural lake in Lower Austria, the Lunzer See invites you to wonderful bathing fun, boat trips, and fishing experiences away from everyday hustle and bustle. It should actually be called Lunz at the lakes, because there are also the crystal-clear mountain lakes – the Mittersee and the Obersee, located among wild romantic rocks and gentle alpine meadows at 1,113 meters above sea level. They lie in a beautiful setting at the foot of the high alpine Dürrenstein. On the south side of the Obersee, a floating moor (Rotmoos) can also be observed, above the Mittersee a romantic waterfall and the Rainer spring with the "roaring bull".
