Description
The owl trail leads along a stream into the head of the Windischbachau valley and is an experience for the whole family. Interesting facts about the five owl species found in the Dürrenstein wilderness area - eagle owl, Ural owl, tawny owl, great horned owl and pygmy owl - are presented along the trail at eight stations. The scenic attractions and the structures of the second Vienna High Spring Water Pipeline also make a visit worthwhile. The trail runs partly on an asphalt road, then along a forest road and can also be used by bike.

Route description Owl Trail in the Dürrenstein Wilderness Area
From the Rothschild Pond parking lot in the Steinbach Valley (Göstling/Ybbs), follow the paved road downstream to the actual start of the Owl Trail. At the end of the paved road, continue straight along the forest road for about 2 km to the head of the Windischbachau valley (=turnaround point). Return along the same route to the parking lot.
The one-way distance is 3.4 km. Including the return trip, a total distance of 6.8 km and the necessary time should be planned.

Coming from Vienna: A1 exit Ybbs/Donau - direction Eisenstraße - follow B25 to Göstling/Ybbs
