Lunz am See
The mountaineering village of Lunz am See lies in the heart of the Mostviertel region. In addition to numerous hiking routes, the main attraction is Lower Austria's only natural lake with excellent water quality: Lake Lunz. If you like, you can take a guided tour of the Hammerherren or Handicraft Museum and learn about the long history of the village and the surrounding area.
But as soon as the sun is shining, it's time to get out, because the mountain is calling! There are more hiking destinations around the mountaineering village of Lunz am See than you can manage in a few days. In addition to mountain hikers and nature lovers, Lunz also has a lot to offer guests with an affinity for culture: the "Lunzer Seebühne" is unique in Austria - a multifunctional structure right on the lakeshore. During the day, it serves as a bathing island and diving platform. In the evening, the stepped seating cover is raised by water power and a covered grandstand with 250 seats offers a unique ambience for cultural events.
In winter, Lunz am See also has a lot to offer - when the ice cover is suitable, the lake invites you to enjoy a unique ice-skating experience. Skiing is almost as important in Lunz as our lake. Beautiful downhill runs of all levels of difficulty await you on the Maiszinken, after which traditional inns invite you to enjoy a cozy end to the day. Special highlights include the Sonnenalm cross-country ski trail and guided snowshoe hikes.
