Brief description

Challenging MTB route with everything your heart desires: intense climbs, cool descents, magnificent views. A rewarding detour in the Eisenwurzen Nature Park.

Description

Through the Sandgraben it goes increasingly steep on asphalt to the Promau height. After a short descent on asphalt, do not turn off in a sharp left turn but continue straight on the gravel road and begin the long and partly steep climb towards Gamsstein, all on gravel.

At the top... in the middle of the Eisenwurzen Nature Park, there is a first-class MTB setting: far from civilization, over clearings, through woods and lush green meadows it goes flat and descending for several kilometers before the actual descent begins on a well-ridable gravel road with some sharper curves (attention!) down to Palfau.

In Palfau, an idyllic place belonging to Styria and known for sensational rafting tours on the Salza, the steep climb (first asphalt, later gravel) up towards Gamsstein begins right in the village area up to the Moaralm hut.

From there, the first climb is a descent back to Hollenstein.
