Description
The scenically stunning route from Waidhofen an der Ybbs via Ybbsitz to Gresten to the Small Erlauftal Cycle Path is suitable for pleasure cyclists and e-bikes.
For about 800 years, the smiths have set the tone in Ybbsitz. The town is one of Europe’s centers of the art of smithing. The Small Ybbstal Cycle Path leads cyclists into this vibrant heart of the Iron Road. It branches off from the “Great Ybbstal Cycle Path” in Gstadt near Waidhofen an der Ybbs and winds along a six-kilometer stretch to Ybbsitz. Here, in FeRRUM or on the smithy mile, the past as well as the present and future of iron processing can be experienced in an exciting way.
The section up to Ybbsitz is especially suitable for families. Those who wish can continue cycling from Ybbsitz to Gresten and thus into the Small Erlauftal, although the hills in between demand significantly more sporting ambition.
